Die 1982 in Minsk (Belarus) geborene Volha Hapeyeva ist Lyrikerin, Autorin, Übersetzerin, Künstlerin und promovierte Linguistin.
Während der Proteste im Sommer 2020 in ihrer Geburtsstadt Minsk hielt sich Hapeyeva als Stadtschreiberin in Graz auf, und In Folge wohnte sie am Starnberger See (DE), anschließend in Krems und wurde schließlich ins Writers-in-Exile-Programm des PEN Zentrums Deutschland aufgenommen. 2023 war sie Fellow des DAAD in Berlin.
Für ihr Werk erhielt sie zahlreiche Preise und Auszeichnungen, u.a. den English PEN Translates Award für das Buch In My Garden of Mutants (2021), den Wortmeldungen-Literaturpreis 2022, Rotahorn-Preis 2021 und den manuskripte-Preis 2025.
2024 realisierte sie am Afro-Asiatischen Institut Graz als Künstlerin die Ausstellung „Archiv der kleinen Wesen“.

Born in Minsk (Belarus) in 1982, Volha Hapeyeva is a poet, author, translator, artist and doctor of linguistics.
During the protests in her hometown of Minsk in the summer of 2020, Hapeyeva was staying in Graz as a city writer. She then lived on Lake Starnberg (Germany), followed by Krems, and was eventually accepted into the Writers in Exile programme of the PEN Centre Germany. In 2023, she was a DAAD fellow in Berlin.
She has received numerous prizes and awards for her work, including the English PEN Translates Award for the book In My Garden of Mutants (2021), the Wortmeldungen Literature Prize 2022, the Rotahorn Prize 2021 and the Manuskripte Prize 2025.
In 2024, she realised the exhibition ‘Archiv der kleinen Wesen’ (Archive of Small Beings) as an artist at the Afro-Asian Institute in Graz.
