Die in Seoul, Südkorea, geborene Don Mee Choi ist die Autorin der KOR-US-Trilogie „Mirror Nation“, die bei Wave Books (USA) und And Other Stories (Großbritannien & EU) erschienen ist, sowie des mit dem National Book Award ausgezeichneten Gedichtbandes „DMZ Colony“ und des Buches „Hardly War“. Ihr jüngstes Buch trägt den Titel „Freely Frayed“. Sie erhielt Stipendien der MacArthur Foundation, der Guggenheim Foundation, der Lannan Foundation und der Whiting Foundation sowie des DAAD-Künstlerprogramms in Berlin. Ihre Übersetzung von Kim Hyesoons Gedichten wurde 2019 mit dem International Griffin Poetry Prize und 2024 mit dem National Book Critics Circle Award für Lyrik ausgezeichnet.

Her most recent book is Freely Frayed. She is a recipient of fellowships from the MacArthur, Guggenheim, Lannan, and Whiting Foundations, as well as the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. Her translation of Kim Hyesoon’s poetry won the 2019 International Griffin Poetry Prize and the 2024 National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry.
